Australian library and information sector responds to US immigration ban
Monday, 6 February 2017
The Board of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) has endorsed the IFLA position that open societies are healthy societies.
IFLA issued this position following the recent Executive Order issued by US President, Donald Trump, barring entry into the United States by individuals from seven countries.
The IFLA position calls on all governments to protect the principles of international law that prohibit discrimination of any kind on the basis of race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.
