What's the story?

From the recipe book of Christina Anne Hart, nee Jamieson (1891-1992).

Anne Hart was a talented home cook.  Her personal recipe book is a collection of handwritten and clipped recipes.  Anne notes the name of the person from whom she obtained the recipe and her own amendments to them.

Let's make it  

Ingredients

2lb rhubarb

2lb sugar

1lb sultanas

1 pint vinegar

Salt

Ginger

Onions finely chopped

Pepper

Method

Peel and cut rhubarb and chop onions finely. [Bruise?] ginger and tie in muslin. Put all the ingredients into an aluminium saucepan and boil until thick. Be exact in all weights. Cool one hour.
